The Mum Tag

I thought I would do “the mum tag” even though I haven’t actually been tagged in it! I know people are nosey (I know I am) and I loved these questions. So here is it, the mum tag, enjoy!

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?

I am a stay at home mum. I was working up until I was 5 months pregnant with my first, but working with horses isn’t practical or safe with a baby bump. Luckily I was able to stop work early and I haven’t had to go back to it just yet. I won’t go back into the working world until the kids are at school.

2. Would you have it any other way?

Yes and no. As much as I love my kids there are days when I am jealous that my husband gets to “escape” and have adult conversations. Although it is lovely that I do get to spend lots of time with my children and see them grow and learn every day.

3. Do you co-sleep?

No, haven’t done with either of mine. Just wasn’t for us.

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?

Not exactly an item but an app. A white noise app on my phone, was essential is the early days in helping to settle both of my babies.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?

We always said 2 and 2 only, we are sticking to this plan. It’s just a lovely bonus that we have one of each.

6. Date nights? How often do you have them?

We don’t have a set date night, but we really should. Whenever we have a child free night we just generally go down to our local for a drink, back home for a takeaway and bed. So rock and roll. We should start making more effort!!

7. Your child’s favourite show?

There are few favourites in our house, some more popular with me and my husband than others. They love Hey Duggee and Ben and Holly (and so do me and Ben) However, they also like Peppa Pig, and quite frankly she can take a long walk off a short pier!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

A bouncer that goes in the doorway. Freya used it a couple of times and didn’t really enjoy it and Toby never used it as we borrowed a jumperoo from my best friend. It’s still sat in the loft! (jumperoo’s are a godsend especially for your second child, somewhere to plonk them that is safe and they are entertained whilst you are dealing with your first-born)

9. Your child’s favourite food?

Both of mine pretty good at eating but pasta, chicken roast dinner and of course fish fingers are favourites! Gotta love a fish finger dinner

10. How many cars does your family have?

We have 2, well Ben’s farrier van and a pick up. I would find life pretty difficult/isolated if I didn’t have my own car. Living in a village and the nearest town is a good 15 minute drive away a car, I feel is essential to my sanity to be able to get out and about! I’ve done a week without one when Ben’s van was in the garage and he stole the pick up off me for work and I felt like I was getting cabin fever by the end of the week.

11. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I never stepped on the scales in either of my pregnancies. Even when they weighed me at the hospital I didn’t look! If you can’t gain a little weight when you’re pregnant when can you?! However, I did step on the dreaded scales a couple of months after having them and I had gained about a stone each time. I lost all of that weight after Freya to find out a month later that I was pregnant with Toby, typical. I haven’t ‘tried’ to loose the baby weight as such second time round. I am about 1/2 stone heavier than my pre baby weight but I’m happy with that. As long as the clothes fit that’s fine by me.

12. Dream holiday with your kids?

Of course it has to be Disney!! I have never been there and I grew up watching Disney films and my kids are too so I would love to visit when they are both a bit older so they can appreciate it a bit more.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?

The Maldives!! We went there for our honeymoon and it still is my dream holiday, I would love to go back one day.

14. How has your life changed since having kids?

It hasn’t changed at all…hahahaha, jokes!! It is completely different! I think the main ones that spring to mind are that I don’t have the freedom I used to have, obviously. I used to be able to go riding at the drop of a hat for hours on end, now going riding seems like a military operation! And that I am more tired (think that’s a given for any parent).

15. Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”

The kids play nicely together and give each other random hugs and kisses.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?

Mainly supermarkets! They do great clothes at affordable prices. I do buy the odd bits from Joules and small businesses I find on Instagram.

17. Favourite make-up and skin care products?

Ummm, skin care…does baby wipes count?! I don’t have a skincare routine, other than slapping some moisturiser on after getting out of the shower. I don’t actually wear that much make up unless I’m going “out out” so I can’t really say. I have bits from various make up brands but couldn’t tell you off the top of my head whats my favourites.

18. Huggies or Pampers?

Pampers. Well, we don’t actually use Pampers now, just supermarket own. I think we are currently using Tesco’s, but pull ups as Toby is far to wriggly for nappies now!

19. Have you always wanted kids?

No, I haven’t. I actually didn’t want kids until I was about 24, I was having far too much fun going out, hunting and playing ponies to even think about having children. That all changed when I met Ben really.

20. Best part of being a mum?

Oh goodness, thats a hard one. Seeing someone you have created grow and develop into wonderful little people. Always having someone around to have fun with, oh and the kisses and cuddles from your little ones are the best!!
