If you follow me on facebook, instagram or twitter over the past month or so you would of seen me post about Mother Bee products. After testing them out on myself, my family and animals I am really excited to share with you my thoughts on these lovely products.
If you haven’t seen the posts on my social medias, Mother Bee is a range of handmade skin care products which are made from 100% natural ingredients. Developed in Northern Ireland from an old family remedy due to one of their accident prone horses (there is one on every yard I think). Their vet was so impressed with the rapid healing time with the use of their “magic cream” he encouraged them to bring the product to the market and so Soothe and Protect was released and Mother Bee was born.
The Mother Bee range have products that are for both humans, animals and leather products all of which I have found to be fantastic and do exactly what they say on the tin. I’m going to start by telling you about the human products. First up the lip balm, this has literally lived in my handbag since I received it. It really has soothed my dry lips and I have found it to soak in quickly but also be long lasting without feeling too thick and heavy on the lips. Which I think is great, nothing worse than putting a lip balm on and going out and about and having all the dust and grime stick to your lip product. Not a good feeling (or look) at all. It comes in non-scented and peppermint if you like a flavour to your lip balm.
You know when the skin on your hands are in need of some attention when it starts to get that ache, if you know what I mean? So when I saw that Mother Bee did a yard hand rescue I did a little happy dance inside. With both myself and my husband working with horses our hands take a bit of a battering and were in need of some TLC, especially after the long winter we have just had. Bens more than mine obviously as you can see from the photo above. I’ve never met a farrier with soft hands. Mother Bee yard hand rescue does just that, it rescued our poor hands! Ben has even used it regularly too and he is not a product applying man. I think the fact that it doesn’t have any girly smell like a lot of moisturising products that are out there and that it works did the trick for him. Simply rub the moisturising bar between your hands like a soap and wait for a couple minutes to let soak in and ta daa, softened and soothed skin.
Talking of soft skin, I have to mention the Mother Bee moisturising bar. Yes a bar, I had never seen a moisturiser in a bar form before and if you haven’t either they are so easy to use. Simply rub the bar on dry skin and your own body heat will activate the product which will leave your skin feeling soft and protected. I have the Ylang Ylang and Lemongrass scented bar which Freya describes as smelling like sweets. However, it also comes in Rosemary and Lavender and unscented if you aren’t a fan of scented products.
Moving on from Human products, Mother Bee also make a fantastic leather balm which I tested out on my very tired looking Ariat cowboy boots that were well over due some attention. It is so quick and easy to apply, simply apply to clean leather with a dry cloth or sponge allow to soak in, then buff (if you wish) to shine. As you can see from the photos above it did a fabulous job of reviving them. I also used it on my Ariat riding boots which also came up lovely. This product is going to be a staple in my tack/riding boots maintenance for keeping it in tip top condition.
And finally onto the animal products from the Mother Bee range. When I first started writing this blog I hadn’t had the chance to test this out as the ponies hadn’t got into any mischief. However, if you follow me on my social media you will have see that I parted company with Patrick at the weekend and the saddle slipped resulting in him having nicks and cuts on every single leg! I popped some of this wonder cream on him and the next morning I was amazed at how well they had already started to heal. We have also used it on our terrier, who gets scabby ears every now and then and it really seemed to take the itch out of them which was a relief to her and us!
Being 100% natural ingredients and one of the benefits of this products is relieving irritated skin I have also used this on Freya. Both she and Toby suffer with dry, sore skin behind their knees. I applied it one evening when she had a flare up before she went to bed and the next morning her skin looked back to normal. I wish I had taken a before an after photo as I was amazed at how quickly and well it worked.
There is a long list of ailments that this miracle cream can help tackle such as mud fever, rain scald, wounds, dermatitis, sweet itch, greasy heel, cracked heels and thrush amongst others. It really is the “fix all” in a tub which definitely staying in my first aid kit at the yard.
You can buy all of the Mother Bee range on their website and you can also follow them on social media (facebook, instagram and twitter) to keep up to date with all their latest news.
